UPTU (Uttar Pradesh Technical University) was recognized on May 8, 2000 by Uttar Pradesh government of. University is also permitted by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education). Uttar Pradesh Technical University is located in Lucknow and offers technical education in fields of Technology, Town Planning, Architecture, Engineering, Applied Arts and Pharmacy. According to website of the university, UPTU was the largest technical university of Asia. UPTU had just about 637 Colleges under its roof. UPTU was situated at the IET Lucknow campus in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Bur from 2008, IET Lucknow is declared as the constituent college for UPTU. To decrease workload and to make sure suitable management, the U.P Government has structured divergence of UPTU in 2 split universities namely Mahamaya Technical University and Gautam Buddha Technical University, which is applied from 1st May 2010.
