Eligibility:
1.      Master's degree or equivalent in any branch of Science such as Life Science / Physics/ Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer application / Pharmacy / Veterinary Science/ Psychology
OR  
2.      A minimum of four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering / Technology / Medicine.
GENERAL INFORMATION
NOTE:-
1.      Only the candidates with a track record of at least 55% (For SC/ST/PH candidates 50%) marks (No rounding off; candidates should mention their percentage calculated up to two decimal points) or equivalent grade from secondary (10th) examination onwards will be considered to be called for the written test.
2.      Mere fulfillment of minimum requirement will not entitle a candidate to be called for the interview.
3.      Only the candidates called for the interview will be paid ordinary sleeper class train fare from the nearest railway station, on production of tickets.
4.      The written test will consist of 2 sections. Section 1 will have questions on General Knowledge or General Awareness related to Science. Sections 2 will have questions on the subjects - Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology. In section 2, the candidates are required to attempt questions on any 3 subjects. All the questions will be “multiple choice” type. The candidates will have to attempt both the sections and be in the required merit to be considered to be called for the interview.
The difficulty level of questions on the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics will be of Higher Secondary (10 + 2) level for both written tests for Integrated Ph.D. and Ph.D. programmes. However, the difficulty level of questions on the subject Biology for Integrated Ph.D. will of B.Sc. (Pass) level for Integrated Ph.D. programme and it will be of B.Sc. (Hons.) i.e. slightly higher than B.Sc.(Pass) level for Ph.D. programme.
5.      The candidates who have qualified for JRF in CSIR/ UGC/ICMR/ICCSR/DBT or any other equivalent national examination will also need to appear for the entrance test.
6.      Candidates appearing for final year of the qualifying examination will be required to submit the proof of having passed in the examination latest by 15th July, 2011. If selected, their selection will be provisional and subject to production of proof of qualifying in the respective examination with the required cut-off percentage.
7.      Candidates claiming equivalence to any of the degrees mentioned in this advertisement will have to furnish satisfactory proof from appropriate authority. NBRC reserves the right to accept or reject it. No correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
8.      Concessions / Reservation to SC / ST and PH candidates will be as per Government of India / UGC / NBRC policy. Candidates belonging to SC / ST /PH categories are required to submit an attested copy of the certificate in support of their claim for reservation, at the time of appearing for the written test failing which they will not be permitted to appear for the written test.
9.      Candidates who are interested to pursue Integrated Ph.D. or Ph.D. programme at NBRC, are required to apply by giving details as per the application form available online and also a declaration to that effect as required there in. No scanned copies of documents in respect of student’s qualifications etc. need to be sent at the written test stage. (Please refer to below, point ‘D’ given under the sub-head ‘Application Procedure’ )

SELECTION PROCEDURE
Shortlisted candidates after the written test will be called for a two-tier interview at NBRC. The final selection will be based on the performance in the interview. The dates for the interview will be intimated later, and will also be posted on NBRC website.
The decision of the screening / selection committee will be final and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained. Canvassing in any form will disqualify the applicant. The candidates finally selected for the Ph.D. or Integrated Ph.D. programmes will be eligible for scholarship as per NBRC rules and will be provided hostel accommodation on a sharing basis.

About National Brain Research Centre 
National Brain Research Centre is a major neuroscience research group, situated in Manesar township of Haryana, India. It is an Autonomous Government Institute accredited with a deemed university status and is a nodal center under Department of Biotechnology of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.
