Allahabad University is a premier Central University located in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. Its origins lie in the Muir Central College, named after Lt. Professor Ahmed Ali, Novelist, short story writer, critic, translator, educationist and scholar, Co-founder of the Indian Progressive Writers' Movement and Association after the publication of Angare, which was banned by the British U.P Government in 1933, and author of Hamari Gali, Shole, Qaid Khana, Twilight in Delhi, The Golden Tradition and Al-Qur'an: A Contemporary Translation amongst many other works. He was Lecturer of English at the University from 1933-37. The University published his critique Poetry A Problem in Allahabad University Studies, Vol. XI, No. II, in 1934.
