ADMISSION FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2011-12

The Institute of Mathematics and Applications (Govt. of Orissa) is offering two futuristic and innovative programmes. Both the programmes have already been approved by the Govt. of Orissa and are affiliated to the Utkal University.  

1. B.Sc. (Hons) in Mathematics and Computing:

Objective: This is a 3 year full time rigorous course aimed at those who wish to pursue a career in cutting-edge research in mathematical sciences and related fields. Besides a research career in mathematics, there are varieties of other career options for the pass outs both in academics as well as in corporate houses. A scholarship of Rs 2500/- per month would be available to some meritorious students.

Eligibility: Candidate must have passed/appeared Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent from any stream with Mathematics as a subject.

2. M.A/M.Sc in Computational Finance:

Objective: This is first of its kind in India. The main objective of this high-end two year full-time programme is to provide students with the practical skills and theoretical understanding and evaluations of the tools and models used by the ever changing and increasingly complex financial service sectors.

Eligibility: Candidate must have passed/appeared Bachelor’s Degree with

Mathematics/Statistics as a core subject.

How to get application form: Application form and prospectus can be (i) Collected from Institute’s counter from 10:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.in working days or (ii) downloaded from www.iomaorissa.org link or (iii) Collected through post by sending the appropriate amount as Demand Draft inclusive of postal charges along  with a requesting letter, sufficiently in advance to avoid the postal delay.

How to send completed application form: (i) For downloaded applications,

instructions are given in the website. Or (ii) all other form of applications can be submitted by speed post /registered post or in person (not by courier service).

􀂃 Application fee for B.Sc. (Hons) in Mathematics and Computing: Rs 100/-

(there is no application fee for ST/SC student). Postal charges Rs 50/-(only for

postal request of application form).

􀂃 Application fee for M.A/M.Sc in Computational Finance: Rs 350/-, Postal

Charges Rs 50/-(only for postal request of application forms).

All payments should be in shape of consolidated demand draft in favour of

Director, Institute of Mathematics and Applications payable at Bhubaneswar.

Important Dates:

Date of availability of application forms and prospectus : Tuesday, February 8, 2011

Last date of receipt of completed application form : Friday, April 8, 2011

Date of entrance test : Wednesday, May 18, 2011
